Annual Contest to Give Away over 4 Million Yen in Prizes
The Yomiuri Shimbun, one of Japan's leading newspapers, is now accepting entries to its 26th annual Yomiuri International Cartoon Contest (Cartoon drawings, not animation).
Amateurs and professionals of all nationalities and ages are eligible to enter.
The contest has two sections, a "theme section" and a "Free Section." Entries into the theme section must reflect the theme, "gifts." Entries to the free section can be on any topic.
The most creative cartoon will win an overall Grand Prize of 2 million yen (US$19,399). Other prizes include the Hidezo Kondo Prize of 1.5 million yen, to be awarded to one outstanding entry.
Other prizes for quality entries in the adult and Junior divisions will also be given out.
A full list of prizes and rules can be found on Yomiuri Shimbun's website here.
Last year's Grand Prize winning entry came from Thailand, and, along with the other winning entries, can be see here.
