Won't be open till February 2003
Today (Sunday), a special program for Ghibli's latest film Neko no Ongaeshi (The Cat's Return) was aired between 13:30-14:50 on Nihon TV in Japan. In it, Toshio Suzuki, studio manager and producer, announced that Studio Ghibli will be closed untill February 1st, 2003, when the production of Miyazaki's next film will begin.
Suzuki did not state the reason, but it seems that it may be related to the suspension of the Howl's Moving Castle project.
At this time we have no further details regarding this, no solid confirmation that the closure is related to the Howl's Moving Castle project (or even that the project was cancelled) but we stress that Toshio Suzuki did announce on public TV that Ghibli would be closed until February 1st, 2003.
