This LA Times article discusses the future of Animated Features in the United States, and takes a look at some of this years animated failures.
Some interesting, although brief, comparisons to Anime are made, particularly in regard's to Fox's Titan AE which attempted to emulate certain characteristics of Anime.
The article ultimately convludes that despite recent failures, Animated Features are here to stay and will remain a part of the U.S. Box office, how big of a part though?
