Mononoke April Release

Ryoko of Team Ghiblink reports that according to Houichi Shinbun, Princess Mononoke (Mononoke Hime) will be released in American theaters in April of next year. It will be seen in approximately one thousand theaters coast-to-coast.
According to the article, Tokuma Shoten and Disney officially signed the 114-page contract that covers distribution to Mononoke Hime as well as other films from Studio Ghibli on September 28. Meanwhile, Kiki's Delivery Service, the first Ghibli film released to US audiences, has sold more than 900,000 copies, and is expected to exceed 1.2 million by the new year.
In related news, the Animation News Network will be presenting one of its "Annie" awards to animator Hayao Miyazaki on Friday, November 13. The Windsor McCay Award for Contributions to the Art of Animation will be awarded to Miyazaki (along with two American talents) at the event.
