Sunrise Produces Anime for Hino Motors' 'FlatFormer' Technology

Love Live!'s Takahiko Kyōgoku directs, Cencoroll's Atsuya Uki designs characters

Automobile company Hino Motors revealed on Wednesday that Sunrise is producing a promotional anime titled "Ano Hi no Kokoro o Toraete" (Seize Your Heart From That Day) to promote Hino Motors' "FlatFormer" technology. The anime will debut on YouTube on October 23.

The story is set in a town that preserves nature and its natural attractions using technology. It centers on a protagonist who has drifted apart from his childhood friend, and uses the FlatFormer (seen right) to reconnect through time and space.

Hino Motors will debut the FlatFormer technology at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show on October 24.

Takahiko Kyōgoku (Love Live!) is directing the anime, with Atsuya Uki (Cencoroll, Digimon Adventure tri.) drawing character designs. Marie Tagashira (Gundam: Reconguista in G, City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes) is the animation director. The Tokyo Karan Koron music group performs the anime's theme song "Little Miss Sunshine."
