Gundam vs Hello Kitty Project to Hold Fan Event in 2020
posted on by Kim Morrissy
The Gundam vs Hello Kitty project is holding a spring fan event in Tokyo's Sanrio Puroland on March 22, 2020. Ray Amuro's voice actor Tōru Furuya is scheduled to attend, along with a Gundam, Hello Kitty, and others.
The event will contain talk shows regarding the state of battle between Gundam and Hello Kitty. The two sides will hold a popularity contest that determines which side's pledges will be implemented in reality. The Gundam side pledges to install a Gundam-themed popcorn vending machine, while the Hello Kitty side pledges to create a Gunpla design. The winning side will be announced in mid-January.
In order to participate in the event, you must build up project points on the Gundam Hello Kitty official LINE account by purchasing campaign items from participating stores. 500 people with the most points on both the Hello Kitty and Gundam sides will be invited to the event, for a total of 1,000 people altogether. The points will be tallied in December.
Both Sanrio's iconic cat and the ground-breaking mecha series are celebrating their 45th and 40th anniversaries, respectively. Both franchises are squaring off on a special website and in a series of animated videos. They are also competing to see which side can sell more limited-time goods. So far, Gundam has won three rounds, while Hello Kitty has won four.
