posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
A two-day festival dedicated to classical music will take the stage in Yokohama in September. The STAND UP! CLASSIC FESTIVAL 2019 line-up includes a performance from the musicians and voice talent behind the anime drama Your Lie in April. Pianist Tomoki Sakata, violinist Yūna Shinohara, and voice actresses Risa Taneda (Kaori Miyazono) and Ai Kayano (Nagi Aiza) will appear on stage.
The musicians and voice actresses will attend as part of the "Classics in Anime" portion of the festival on September 29. Sakata was behind the character Kōsei Arima's renditions of Chopin's "Ballad No. 1 in G minor op.23." Similarly, Shinohara performed Saint-Saëns' "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso" for character Kaori Miyazono. The event will host a talk with the voice actresses after the performance.
Tickets for the concert go on sale on June 26.
Naoshi Arakawa's original shōnen manga that inspired the Your Lie in April anime follows Kōsei Arima, a former child prodigy who lost his ability to play the piano when his mother died. His daily life is monochrome, but it begins to gain color when he meets a female violinist by chance. Kaori Miyazono is an audacious go-getter who is overflowing with personality. Enchanted by the girl, Kōsei starts to move forward with his own legs at the age of 14.
Aniplex of America streamed the 22-episode series on the Aniplex Channel, Hulu, and Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan in 2014, then released the series on Blu-ray Disc with an English dub.
