Rose of Versailles Creator Riyoko Ikeda Draws Penélope Cruz to Promote Everybody Knows Film

Rose of Versailles manga creator Riyoko Ikeda provided an illustration to promote the 2018 Spanish-language psychological thriller film Everybody Knows. Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi wrote and directed the film that stars Penélope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story) and Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Before Night Falls). The film will open in Japan on June 1.
The film follows a Spanish woman named Laura (played by Cruz) who returns to her hometown near Madrid and reunites with her former lover Paco (played by Bardem). When Laura's daughter Irene is kidnapped, her entire family becomes involved in the investigation.
Ikeda's illustration shows Laura hugging Irene while Paco stands nearby. Theaters in Japan will distribute limited quantities of flyers with Ikeda's illustration during the film's run.
The film debuted in Spain in September and in the United States in February.
