It's that time of the year again: the cherry blossoms fall, and the April Fool's pranks fly. Japan's anime, manga and video game industries are fun-loving enough to participate in this tradition every year. Here are 2019's best anime-related April Fool's pranks.

As a nod to Macross: Do You Remember Love?, Key announces that its planetarian visual novel with get a film titled "Super Dimension Battleship planetarian Constellation: Do You Remember?" in a galaxy-wide theatrical opening on April 1, 2049. Visiting the official page gives you the options to select either "I am an islander", "I like idols", or "I like fried rice." The "I'm an islander" option opens a video for cross-over card game. The "idol" option leads to placeholder page for the aforementioned planetarian movie. The "fried rice" option opens a page with a link to a quiz to find out how many plates of Umi's fried rice you can eat and a promotional video for the game "Chao Fan Rhapsody." Precure/Butt Detective
It's like the header says, Toei announced that Precure Miracle Universe will collaborate with the Butt Detective anime. The detective will head to space to solve a mystery where he encounters the PreCures. The anime film will be released on April 1, 2020.
