Re:Zero Memory Snow OVA's Snow Festival Will Be Replicated at Sapporo Snow Festival

The official website for the Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- anime announced last Friday that snow sculptures from the Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Memory Snow OAV will be featured at the 70th Sapporo Snow Festival, which will be held from February 4 to 11. The Re:Zero display will be at the HBC Finland venue on the Odori Site's 7th block.
Anime has been a common sight at the Sapporo Snow Festival for some years now, with the 69th festival featuring sculptures from Card Captor Sakura, Golden Kamuy, Kemono Friends, and other popular titles. Re:Zero's inclusion, however, may mark the first time the Snow Festival was mentioned in the anime first. In the Memory Snow OVA, Subaru organizes his own snow festival for the people in town. Much like the real-life Sapporo Snow Festival, the participants make snow sculptures, and a prize is given out to the most well-crafted piece according to the judge vote. Subaru even references the Sapporo Snow Festival directly in his dialogue.
The Re:Zero website noted that there will be goods available for purchase at the Snow Festival, and promises that further details will be given out at a later date.
Memory Snow opened in Japanese theaters on October 6, and features a returning cast and staff. The OVA ranked at #8 at the Japanese box office during its opening weekend. It tells a light-hearted story about Subaru's peaceful life between episodes 11 and 12 of the television anime.
