YouTuber Builds Official Life-Sized Bumblebee Transformer
posted on by Kim Morrissy
YouTuber James Bruton — who describes himself on his channel as a "former toy designer, YouTube maker and general robotics, electrical and mechanical engineer" — has built a life-sized Bumblebee Transformer in anticipation for the upcoming live-action Bumblebee film, which is scheduled for release in the United States on December 21.
Bruton says that Paramount Pictures asked him to build the model. On his channel, Bruton has previously posted videos of himself building an Iron Man suit, Batman's electric skateboard, and other replicas of iconic film props.
Bruton has so far posted his process of creating the Bumblebee in three videos. A fourth video in the future will reveal everything put together.
Bumblebee's original vehicle-mode design was based on a classic European Type 1 Volkswagen Beetle, which can transform into a humanoid robot. Toy company Takara Tomy previously built a functioning Bumblebee for the Tokyo Toy Show in 2015.
