My Hero Academia Fan Shows Heroic Spirit, Saves Woman During Knife Attack
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
If there's one man who embodied the spirit of All Might, it's Blaine Hodge. The 27-year-old California man saved a stranger's life this week when a domestic assault nearly turned deadly inside a Starbucks on Stockdale Highway near Village Lane.
A woman was attacked with a knife and while many of the patrons ran at the sight of the weapon, Hodge stepped in to protect her. The attacker turned his attention, and machete-like weapon, on Hodge. Both Hodge and the female victim suffered stab wounds and were hospitalized in critical condition, but are considered stable.
Hodge, who is a musician and artist, is coincidentally releasing an album this month titled "The Mind of a Hero." His Twitter account bio includes the phrase "anime saved my life" and his SoundCloud includes a track titled, "Otaku." His photo used in television news reports about the incident show Hodge in a My Hero Academia T-shirt.

Since the attack, Hodge underwent surgery on his hand. Appreciative fans put together a GoFundMe to help with Hodge's medical costs over the next six weeks of recovery, and companies like Funimation and Bandai Namco Games have shared shout-outs for his brave feat.
Police arrested a male suspect in the attack and the Starbucks location was closed immediately following the incident.
