Evangelion Unit-01 Gets Metal Figure Designed by Anime's Mechanical Designer

The Evangelion anime is inspiring a new metal figure of Unit-01. Metal Build Evangelion Unit-01 is set for release in February 2019, and Bandai began streaming promotional video for the figure. The video is inspired by the next episode previews from the original Neon Genesis Evangelion television anime.
Evangelion anime mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita is designing and supervising the figure. The figure's concept is "giant with steel muscles," and a new joint design will make the figure highly moveable. Additional parts will include the Pallet Gun and Magoroku Sword to allow fans to recreate a variety of scenes. The figure will also include a stand inspired the Evangelion restraint cages from the anime.
The figure will cost 23,760 yen (about US$210), and the pre-order period will open on September 3.
The new Evangelion film, Shin Evangelion Gekijō-ban :||, will open in Japan in 2020.
