Kaito Kid Abducts YTV's Detective Conan Statue
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Detective Conan's Conan Edogawa statue that normally stands in front of the YTV network's headquarters in Osaka was apparently kidnapped by Kaito Kid himself. YTV posted an image of the note Kaito Kid left behind on its official Twitter account on Tuesday.

The tweet says, "What? Kaito Kid!? This is a major incident.... Where's Conan!?" Kaito Kid's note left in place of the statue reads, "The small detective has kindly let me take care of him... so he doesn't cause trouble in theaters next spring."
The abduction seems to be some sort of promotional campaign for next year's Detective Conan film. The franchise's anime films open in Japan every year in spring. It's unclear exactly when Kaito Kid abducted Conan, but it appears some bushes have also been replaced in the area that the statue formerly stood.
Here's what the statue looks like:

With apparently more sinister intentions in mind, vandals have previously damaged Conan statues in manga creator Gōshō Aoyama's hometown of Hokuei, Tottori.
The franchise's most recent film, Detective Conan: Zero's Executioner, opened in Japan on April 13.
