Buronson and Tetsuo Hara's Fist of the North Star packs a post-apocalyptic punch even after 35 years, but little could prepare fans for the beating their wallets are about to take. Mail order site Housaidow is offering three versions of Ken-oh's helmet--gold, sterling silver, and polystone versions.
The gold version is about 1/4-scale and only five will be made. The limited production number and materials put the helmet at an outstanding price point of 2.70 million yen (about US$24,600). It comes with autographs by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara. The silver version is 378,000 yen (US$3,445) and comes in a glass case and the polystone version is 20,784 yen (US$190) and comes on a pedestal.
Fans looking for money to burn can buy either of the three helmets at Fist of the North Star Exhibition in Shibuya at the Seibu Shibuya department store from June 5-11. Mail order site Housaidow will open orders on June 11-21 or interested buyers can head to the Tokuriki Honten jewelry and gold seller's head office in Tokushima starting on June 12. The helmets are sold on a first-come-first-serve basis.
