52-year-old Japanese rock icon YOSHIKI is living his best life. Despite ongoing health problems, the X Japan frontman jetset from Los Angeles to New York after receiving a cervical vertebral disc replacement surgery to shoot a cover for Vogue Japan in early June.
The feat is impressive, as YOSHIKI can now count himself as the first and only Japanese man to appear on the cover of the famous fashion magazine since it launched 18 years ago. Along side him is Argentinian supermodel mica Argañaraz. Argañaraz has walked the runway for high-fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu and Stella McCartney. The image was used for the October issue.
YOSHIKI said the shoot was "very stimulating" and was lucky to be able to appear in the Rock issue's shoot just three weeks post surgery. He had to appeal to his doctor to board the cross-country flight.
The photo shoot was directed by fashion photography duo Luigi & Iango. Made up of Italian Luigi Murenu and Swiss Iango Henzi, the pair have produced covers for Vanity Fair and campaigns for Dior, Tom Ford Beauty, Versace Jeans, and Cartier.produced numerous magazine covers for VANITY FAIR and i-D, as well as famous campaign visuals for the likes of Dior, Tom Ford Beauty, Versace Jeans and Cartier.
