Galaxy Express 999's Maetel Gets a Tan for Beauty Campaign
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
For her newest beauty partnership, Galaxy Express 999's Maetel is collaborating with Bioré's summer products in Japan. The character's alternate version "Damaetel" (No Good Maetel) debuted on collaboration product packaging on Monday.
The campaign is offering three types of sweat-wiping body sheets to fight the heat. Two types of sunscreen also help keep skin as white as Maetel's. Galaxy Express 999 original manga creator Leiji Matsumoto specially drew Damaetel for the collaboration.
The collaboration is running an official Instagram account for a limited time. The account currently features two four-panel manga. In the first manga (which reads left to right below), Damaetel suffers a "panda" sunburn after failing to apply sunscreen. In the second manga, Damaetel subjects fellow train passengers to her sticky, sweaty body.
The golden-haired character became a model for Socialtech's Chap Up line of hair products in December.
