Irregular at Magic High School Follows Up Bean Collab with Pickles, Nippers

The irregular at magic high school film, titled Gekijōban Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei: Hoshi o Yobu Shōjo, has added two more head-scratching collaborations to its promotional campaign. The anime is offering pickles from Kyoto pickle company Daiyasu and nippers from tool maker GodHand.
Traditional shibazuke pickles combine eggplant and cucumbers with red shiso leaves in a salty and sour concoction. The irregular at magic high school's main character Tatsuya Shiba happens to have a last name that is also part of the name of the classic Kyoto dish. Each package of pickles bundles one of three postcards and costs 800 yen (about US$7). The pickles are available at the film's collaboration Dash Store at the Ikebukuro P'Parco department store in Tokyo. The anime's "Limited shop in shibuya marui" in Tokyo will also offer the pickles from June 17 to July 9.
If the pickle collaboration is confusing, then the film's nipper collaboration is confounding. Some fans may have a hard time finding the connection between the anime and the hand tool. According to GodHand, both Tatsuya and nippers are mislabeled as "poor students" in their respective worlds. Yet, they both have impressive abilities. Tatsuya's Silver Horn Trident weapon from the anime inspired the design of the Ultimate Nippers. GodHand is offering the nippers online through its Rakuten store. The nippers cost 5,940 yen (US$53), and they will go on sale on June 17, the same day that the film opens in Japan.
Last week, the film revealed its collaboration with with the bean-dog hybrid characters called Mameshiba. The Shiba siblings share a last name that is also part of the characters' name. The collaboration's second commercial debuted on Thursday. Here is the first commercial:
Miyuki: I cannot accept this. Why are you in this form? Didn't you get the top score on the entrance exam? If magic is real—
Tatsuya: Miyuki. Even if you say that, it's something that cannot be helped. You understand, don't you?
Miyuki: I'm sorry.
Tatsuya: Miyuki. I'm looking forward to it. Show me my little sister at her best at the movie theater.
Miyuki: Brother!
