3-D Model of Life-Size Oreimo Statue Unveiled
posted on by Eric Stimson
In honor of Tsukasa Fushimi's 10th anniversary since his debut as a light novel author with Jūsanban-me no Alice, fans were allowed to vote on which character from his more famous light novel series, Oreimo, would be converted into a life-size statue. The result was announced on a Nico Nico Douga live-streaming video on August 29: Ayase, who received about 40% of the votes.
Fan input was also sought for what sort of pose she will strike, and as you can see, they wanted her to lift her skirt. Oreimo's illustrator, Hiro Kanzaki, provided rough sketches for three different skirt-lifting poses and put them to a fan vote.
Fushimi himself preferred the left pose.
From left to right, the poses received 25.6%, 35.2%, and 39.1% of the votes. The right option was duly chosen, and plans have gone ahead to sculpt this pose. The model was revealed in another edition of the Nico Nico show on September 27.
Because Kirino and Kuroneko also received a lot of fan support, statues of them will eventually be sculpted as well. Fans chose to have Kirino wear a maid uniform and to have Kuroneko strike a "nyan-nyan" (meowing) pose. (These votes were conducted via Nico Nico Douga's survey feature.) The statues will be sculpted by Figurex; details like prices and preorder dates are expected "in the fall and winter."
Megumi of Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend is also available as a life-size statue. The original magical girlfriend, Urusei Yatsura's Lum, has also been rendered this way.
