posted on by Eric Stimson
Kamikaze Douga, an animation studio with 25 members, is launching a seminar series on the animation process. Focusing on the music video for Idolish 7's "Restart Pointer," the seminars will explain character expressions and animation details, include behind-the-scenes anecdotes, and give the animators a chance to reminisce.
The seminars are free and will be held at several branches of the Human Academy creative arts college around Japan:
- July 30: Sapporo
- August 7: Hiroshima
- August 21: Tokyo
- August 28: Fukuoka
- September 18: Kobe
- September 24: Sendai
- October 2: Osaka
- October 16: Naha
- November 12: Nagoya
Except for the Sapporo seminar, which is at 3 PM, all seminars will take place at 1 PM.
Kamikaze Douga's other credits include the opening animation sequences for Gatchaman Crowds and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, the music video for Exile's "Bow & Arrows," various animations for the Dragon Quest game series, and its original project Gasoline Mask. The studio's 2016 demo reel, below, features a selection of its works from late 2014 to early 2015.
Suginami Ward, a region of Tokyo with many animation studios, has also held a seminar series featuring Shōji Kawamori and Hiroyuki Goto.
