Cerevo Inc. first introduced its impressive replica of The Dominator from Psycho-Pass last summer. Originally dubbed the Dominator Maxi, the highly-realistic prop includes lights, sounds from the anime series, and an expanding Eliminator mode. The Cerevo version goes above and beyond previous Dominators created by Bandai's Proplica line and Ichiban Kuji's release with a camera viewer and wireless LAN capabilities, allowing users to view Crime Coefficients with their smartphone, as well as a special app to view a Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Division user interface.
All the impressive gadgetry got fans in a flurry. Cerevo initially announced the prop's release was slated for some time last year and had no official price point. 2015 came and went with no sign of the Dominator. Fortunately, the wait is finally over for fans in Japan with a worldwide release planned, too.
Cerevo Inc. announced on Friday that the "smart toy" will go on sale in March with pre-orders opening at Wonder Festival. Two versions are planned: the standard Dominator for 79,800 yen (US$682) and a special edition Dominator for 89,800 yen (US$768). Production I.G director Naoyoshi Shiotani and Nitroplus designer Makoto Ishiwata supervised the Dominator's creation. The motorized transformation from Paralyzer to Eliminator modes marks a first in the world for smart toys. Voice actress Noriko Hidaka recorded 100 voice samples for use. A protector case can be purchased separately for 12,800 yen (US$109).
