Kojima Gets Shout Out in Star Wars: The Force Awakens
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Fans and retailers drew their own opinions after Hideo Kojima and game developer Konami's business relationship fizzled last year. The mind behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise has since launched the game studio Kojima Productions, was inducted into The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences' Hall of Fame, and is hard at work at on his game.
He also made a visit to Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams back in August and dropped off a signed copy of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. This was around the same time Kojima was celebrating his birthday with Metal Gear Solid film producer Avi Arad.

Whether a coincidence or a way of saying thanks, Kojima got his own shout out in the film. During the attack on the Jakku Village, a red-eyed sand alien, after watching BB-8 roll away, clearly says, "Kojima." Star Wars: The Force Awakens sound designer Robert Stambler delivers the line in the film.
