Gō Nagai's UFO Robo Grendizer is credited with opening the door to anime in Europe in the late 1970s. It aired on TV and cultivated a whole new fanbase of giant robots. The manga is celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Luxembourg-based Tsume is creating a truly spectacular, 80cm (31.5in) resin statue.
The base displays Vega's crashed MiniFO ship with Grendizer posed victorious on top. The robot wields a Double Harken in each hand and has an LED lightning system to illuminate its cockpit. Inside is pilot Duke Fleet.
Several interchangeable parts are also included. Arms can be traded out for a Screw Crusher Punch pose, an alternate head can be attached for Space Thunder, and Grendizer can also be displayed with Koji's Double Spazer attached on its back.
Pre-orders are open until January 4 for 1,199 Euros (US$1,308). Orders will be shipped in December 2016.
Correction: Tsume's location corrected to Luxembourg.
