Sailor Moon Italian Theme Gets Boy Band Makeover
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
The Italian singer/songwriter Paolo Tuci, released a full music video mashup cover of the third Italian Sailor Moon opening theme sung "e Il Cristallo del Cuore" by Cristina D'Avena. The twist is the song is combined with Madonna's hit, "La Isla BONITA." The video recasts Tuci and dancers as Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus. A topless male Tuxedo Mask also makes an appearance. The video has 500,000 views on Tuci's Facebook page.
A tongue-in-cheek disclaimer opens the video, as Paolo Tuci mentions on his official Facebook Page that his singles are especially popular thanks to gay dance clubs.
Puci's YouTube channel also has covers of Italian themes from Saint Seiya, Inspector Gadget mixed with Creamy Mami, Lupin the Third, Dragon Ball, Captain Tsubasa, Aladdin, The Rose of Versailles, and Little Pollon.
Buzzfeed's "Try Guys" did their own series on cosplay that culminated in creating a rock boy band version of Sailor Moon and performing at Anime Expo.
