Live-Action Ninja Scroll Proof of Concept Video Shows What Might Have Been
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Fans of director Yoshiaki Kawajiri's Ninja Scroll are used to waiting. They've waited for the "Ninja Scroll Burst" (later changed to "Ninja Scroll Kocho") project since its announcement in 2008 followed by an animated teaser in 2012. They've waited for Warner Brothers' live-action adaptationsince 2008 and a script by The Watchmen writer Alex Tse was penned but never put to film.
A new proof of concept video released by Dracula Untold's Gary Shore shows that the director was, once upon a time, set to direct the adaptation. He was working on the project as little as three years ago, and began shopping around the video to show his ideas. 87 Eleven did the stunt work and The Third Floor created the animation for the project.
It's hard to say whether Shore uploaded the video to show fans the concept behind a failed project or if it's to garner financial interest and make it a reality.
