Major Errors Discovered in 2013 Sword Art Online Soundtrack Two Years After Release
posted on by Carlos Cadorniga
Significant errors were found within Sword Art Online: Original Soundtrack Vol.2 a staggering two years after its initial release. The soundtrack came as an original bonus gift with the anime's seventh DVD and Blu-Ray release.
According to an official apology recently issued by production company Aniplex, over 21 of the 27 tracks on the soundtrack were released with a different pitch than the ones they were originally recorded in, creating fundamentally different sounding songs. This accounts for tracks 6-12 of the CD. The full list of differently pitched songs is as follows.
- a new world of fairies
- fly higher and faster
- in time of piece
- fly, if you can
- fight with a devil
- she is still sleeping
- past sadness
- is this love?
- town in the morning
- climbing up the world tree
- I wonder
- Yui
- is this love?~piano only ver.
- Oberon
- in the cage
- got to win
- aerial fight
- false king
- last flight
- reconciliation
- dance with me
The other songs on the track retained their original pitches. This discovery also confirms various fans long-held suspicions that something was wrong with some of the tracks.
In their apology, Aniplex has invited any customers with faulty CDs to send in their name, address, phone number and disc to them so that they may be replaced with corrected soundtracks and the faulty discs can be thrown out.
Yuki Kajiura, the composer of the soundtrack, has since released a series of tweets addressing the mistakes, regretting that it has taken this long for staff to notice them.
今までこのCDをお楽しみ頂いていた方には、ほとんどの曲を異なったピッチで聞いて頂いていた事になります。自分で気付かなかったのが何よりいけないんですが、私にもかなりの衝撃でした。本当に申し訳ありません……。

In one tweet, she stated: "To those that have been enjoying the CD until now, I've only just heard all of the mistakes in the songs. I simply can't believe I didn't notice until just now. I truly feel terrible about this."
Aniplex USA bundled original soundtracks with its release of the Sword Art Online: Aincrad and Fairy Dance arcs. The Original Soundtrack Vol.2 was coupled with Sword Art Online Blu-ray Box III: Fairy Dance Part 1. Aniplex USA told ANN that they are aware of the situation and plan to make an announcement soon.
