Horror Manga Artist Suehiro Maruo Draws Kinniku Shōjo Tai Album Cover

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Award-winning horror manga artist Suehiro Maruo has teamed up with Japanese rock band Kinniku Shōjo Tai for the cover illustration for the album "Omake no Ichinichi (Tatakai no Hibi)." The 13-track CD goes on sale on October 7 and includes the opening theme for Ushio & Tora, "Mazeru na Kiken." The cover artwork is an illustration Maruo originally drew for the Kinniku Shōjo Tai lead singer Kenji Ōtsuki's first full-length novel, Shinkō Shūkyō Omoide Kyō in 1993.

The artwork is featured on the cover of both the limited and standard edition. The limited edition also bundles a DVD.

Kinniku Shōjo Tai, also known as KING-SHOW, released their first album in 1988 with members. Despite cycling through some members, they maintained a level of popularity through out the 90s and performed the Eat-Man opening theme, "Chiisana Koi no Melody" before disbanding in 1999. They've since regrouped with original vocalist Kenji Ōtsuki and bass player Yūichirō Uchida, and guitarists Toshiaki Honjō and Fumihiko Kitsutaka.

Suehiro Maruo (Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show, The Laughing Vampire) participated an art exhibit focusing on Japanese eroticism in Tokyo in June. He wrapped up the first part of Tomino no Jigoku, his manga adaptation of a viral 2chan poem, last year.
