Monster Hunter Diary Felynes Come to Life in Commercials
posted on by Eric Stimson
The Monster Hunter Diary video game series (a spinoff of Monster Hunter) features a village of cat-like felynes who lead a peaceful, relaxing, small-town life in addition to hunting monsters. The games place an emphasis on simple pleasures like fishing, catching bugs, designing your room, and interacting with other characters. The newest version, Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Felyne Village DX, will be released for the DS on September 10, and a bevy of commercials starring some very felyne-looking cats are promoting it.
The lead felyne introduces itself with "I am a felyne," a reference to the classic Japanese novel I Am a Cat. After meeting some other felynes, it says, "I am choosy about my friends."
This exciting video shows the felynes' daily activities. The lead felyne asks "What's wrong with living [care] free?"
This video shows the felynes' formidable hunting prowess. The lead felyne muses "Hunting is a good thing" at the end.
In this one, the danger of the monsters the felynes encounter escalates. But as the lead felyne realizes, "If you hunt with others, it's not scary."
This video showcases the monster eggs felynes can raise in the game. The lead felyne's quip? "I want the egg."
The egg shows signs of life. The lead felyne comments "In any case, it is an interesting egg."
