Anime lovers, animation studio ARMS also has an entry level production assistant opening for anyone willing to work for 145,000 yen (about US$1,150) a month. Production assistants will work closely with directors and producers to meet production deadlines. The job listing states that those starting as production assistants get acquainted with the entire process of creating anime and could move up to become directors or producers.
The company is seeking applicants with a strong desire to create anime, especially those who "liked the anime from the old days."
ARMS expects assistants to become accustomed to their job roles after approximately one month while working with senior staff. After six months, an assistant should be able to do almost anything by themselves.
Production assistants can expect to work 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m Monday through Saturday, but the listing also notes there's a possibility of overtime. Salary increases and bonuses are dependent on the ARM's performance. The company will pay a maximum of 20,000 yen (US$160) per month in travel expenses.
Interestingly, the company profile attached with the listing also reveals that the studio only employs 16 people. Its listed capital is 3,000,000 yen (US$23,883).
diomedéa posted a job listing for the same full-time position offering a 1,800,000 yen yearly salary (US$14,500). ARMS' offer works out to approximately 1,740,000 yen a year (US$13,800).
