Link Tops The Rankings As the World's Most Popular Amiibo
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata officially announced that Link is the top-selling Amiibo figure worldwide during his financial results presentation on Monday. The protagonist from the Legend of Zelda game franchise is the top seller in Japan, the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Australia stands alone, ranking the elf at #3 under Mario and Pikachu. Iwata notes, however, that the sales chart isn't perfect because some figures sold out quickly in certain regions and were not restocked.
In terms of units sold, Link was the company's top seller. However, the characters that sold out the fastest varies by region.Captain Falcon was the top for Japan, Marth quickly sold out in North America, Little Mac was the top in Europe, and Ike was the top in Australia.
Overall, Nintendo has shipped 5.7 million Amiibo figures so far and the company indicates they have even more plans for their tie-in figures.
