Police arrested a man on suspicion of copyright infringement for the sale of fake Yo-kai Watch medals. The suspect, 27-year-old unemployed male Higashiōsaka City resident Kōhei Ōsaka, allegedly sold the medals through online auctions last October.
According to the police, the suspect sold fake four Yo-kai medals to two female buyers from Kawasaki City. The police seized many fake medals from the suspect's home, and reported that they discovered in his personal computer records that he sold 650 medals to over 240 people nationwide for 760,000 yen (about US$6,400). The suspect allegedly said in his deposition that he bought the medals from a Chinese person, and used the money he earned in pachinko games.
Gunma Prefectural Police arrested another man, 27-year-old salaryman Ryousuke Koyama from Shirahama City, in November for also selling fake medals in online auctions last year.
