Live-Action Parasyte Director Talks About Potential Differences Between His Film and the Scrapped Hollywood Version

After the screening of the first live-action Parasyte film at the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival, director Takashi Yamazaki was asked about the long-defunct plans for a U.S. Parasyte adaptation.
Yamazaki said his movie was like a "second marriage," and elaborated on possible differences between his film and what might have been had the U.S. movie been made.
"When I think about it, if you make it into a huge Hollywood film, you'd have to simplify it for a huge audience. This would particularly limit the second film where there are philosophical talks about human beings and the end of the world."
This doesn't mean he wouldn't welcome another country's adaptation, though. Yamazaki added that, "[the] content is really strong and can be transformed in many ways. We've presented our version and it would be great if others expand it further."

The first film is slated to open in Japan on November 29, and the second film will open in 2015.
Hitoshi Iwaaki's manga also received a television anime adaptation which premiered on NTV earlier this month. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.
