Charges Dropped For Man With A Decepticon Maserati
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Quincy District Court threw out the police impersonation misdemeanor charge against Zhang Zhijun for his Transformers-inspired Maserati on September 4. Magistrate Robert Bloom ruled in favor of the 23-year-old resident of Braintree, Massachusetts because Zhijun never pulled over other drivers nor claimed to be a police officer.
The defendant's lawyer said all his client was doing was, "driving his goofy car down the street." Zhijun, who regularly changes the color of the US$99,698 car with plasti dip, will probably only keep the Barricade look on his car for another month.
Matson commented on the The Patriot Ledger's news story, stating, "Of course it is possible that he could get pulled over again by a different police department. But it should be clear that there was no crime here."
On August 9, Zhijun was pulled over by Braintree patrol officer Blake Holt. According to the driver, he was not arrested but was informed he may be brought to court for impersonating a police officer.
