Voice Actor Kishō Taniyama Tries Out Crossplay

posted on by Chris Nishijima
Meet Kishomi, Kishō Taniyama's more sensitive side.

A lot of actors tend to have a certain kind of niche character they play. Kishō Taniyama is no exception to that rule. Known for his roles such as Jean Kirschtein in Attack on Titan, Kittan in Gurren Lagann, and Stiyl Magnus in A Certain Magical Index, Taniyama shows up as the somewhat headstrong "man's man" in a number of anime. In his free time, however, it seems that he likes to get in touch with his feminine side.

Taniyama posted this picture to his personal Twitter account this past week, showing the world that he's got a bit of a penchant for crossplay. Having coined this alter ego of his "Kishomi," Taniyama's picture has already become semi-viral across Japanese blogs. One Twitter user even commented that "Kishō had been cute before, but he's become even cuter."

That being said, maybe this will help Taniyama land some roles as a more sensitive character in an upcoming anime. On top of his work as a voice actor, Taniyama is also known as the lead singer in GRANRODEO, which he formed with fellow musician e-Zuka (Masaaki Iizuka), which sang the opening themes for Code:Breaker and Kuroko's Basketball. All things considered, perhaps his fans would be more interested in an onstage appearance from Kishomi in a future GRANRODEO concert.
