Reports of Queue Problems at Newcastle Convention
posted on by Andrew Osmond
There have been reports of queuing problems at the Newcastle Film & Comic Con which took place on Saturday March 8 and Sunday March 9 at the Metro Radio Arena. A video report is available on the ITV website, which claims, "Hundreds of sci-fi and comic book fans vented their frustration after being forced to wait for hours outside the Newcastle Film and Comic Con, one of the first and largest conventions of its kind in the North East."
The report also says that some visitors had had to leave without getting in, even if they had advance tickets.
The video report quotes Metro Arena as saying that the promoter was responsible for ticketing. It also quotes the promoter as saying it didn't expect the 'raw demand,' which has never happened before, but that they will make changes.
The newspaper Chronicle Live reports that 'Jason Joiner, an organiser with Showmaster said people were left queueing after interest surged. He said: “We never make the same mistake twice. We will only sell pre-paid tickets next year.”
