Japan Gives Cosplay Experience to Foreign Travelers at Narita Airport
posted on by Bamboo Dong
In celebration of Culture Day, which was held this past November 3, a special cosplay experience was held at Narita Airport to introduce foreign travelers to one of Japan's increasingly prominent subcultures.
Travelers in the departure lobby of Terminal 1 were greeted by cosplay enthusiasts who encouraged foreigners to don outfits from recognizable anime properties like Dragon Ball and Captain Harlock. The travelers were then able to pose in front of a large electronic billboard with scenes of Mt. Fuji, cherry blossoms, and other iconic images.
The event was organized by the local Narita Junior Chamber, which has more pictures posted on their website.
Culture Day is a national holiday held every year in Japan on November 3. First held in 1948 to commemorate the establishment of the Constitution of Japan, it continues to promote Japanese culture and the arts.
