Attack on Titan's Shiganshina District Recreated in Minecraft
posted on by Karen Ressler
The "Studio Miyabi" Minecraft group is currently streaming the first video progress report of its endeavor to recreate Attack on Titan's Shiganshina district in the Minecraft computer game. The project is about 15% done, but the video features various landmarks including Minecraft versions of the wall, Eren's house, the boats, and the Colossal Titan. After the video was posted, it garnered more than 150,000 views within four days.
The Attack on Titan anime, based on a manga series by Hajime Isayama, depicts the battles between humans and the giants who now rule the world outside humans' walled enclaves. The series begins in Shiganshina district, where the main characters grow up.
Isayama launched the series in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009. The manga has become a sleeper hit, and Kodansha Comics is publishing it in North America. Funimation and Crunchyroll are currently both streaming the anime as it airs, and Funimation plans to release the anime on home video next year.
