San Francisco's New People to Host Megpoid English Launch Event

The New People center in San Francisco's Japantown announced on Thursday that it will host a free Megpoid English launch event on Sunday, March 3. The event will offer workshops and demos for the Vocaloid3 Megpoid English software, and will also host Vocalekt Visions, a local Vocaloid performance troupe. Attendees will receive a free trial version of the software while supplies last.
Yamaha and Internet Co., Ltd will release the Megpoid software in English on February 28 for US$167, which includes shipping. Megpoid is the Vocaloid voice synthesis software sampled from voice actress Megumi Nakajima (Macross Frontier's Ranka Lee). The software was released in Japanese in June 2009.
Internet Co., Ltd. is currently streaming an introduction video to the English version of the software as well as sample English songs. Next week's release marks the first time time that the Megpoid Vocaloid software will be launched in English.
The Japanese Megpoid software is getting a rhythm game for the PlayStation Portable developed by ParaPhray titled Megpoid the music#. The game will ship in Japan on March 28.
