Nintendo Unveils New Zelda Wii U Title in Development
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Eiji Aonuma, from Nintendo's Software Development Department, announced two new games for The Legend of Zelda franchise during the Nintendo Direct presentation on Wednesday. Aonuma first revealed that Nintendo is developing a new Zelda title for the Wii U, and then revealed that Nintendo is creating a The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD remake for the Wii U.
Aonuma could not expand upon the details for the new title, but he did mention that the driving theme behind the development of the game is to "rethink the conventions of Zelda." In particular, Nintendo is rethinking ideas such as players having to complete dungeons in a certain order or that players have to play by themselves.
Aonuma also showed some screenshots from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker remake. Nintendo originally released the game on the Gamecube 10 years ago.
Aonuma noted that the new Zelda title may take a while, so he hopes that fans can enjoy The Wind Waker remake in the meantime.
