posted on by Egan Loo
Nagoya City Mayor Takashi Kawamura welcomed the competitors of this year's World Cosplay Summit by dressing up as One Piece protagonist Luffy on Wednesday. He and Aichi Prefectural Governor Hideaki Ohmura met with 10 participants from Finland, Mexico, and three other countries, three days before the championship begins on Saturday.
Kawamura already cosplayed as Dragon Ball's Piccolo at last year's competition, and Ohmura also dressed as the Space Battleship Yamato alien leader Lord Dessler (Leader Desslok in the American adaptation Star Blazers), blue face paint and all.
40 cosplayers from 20 countries and regions are competing in the 10th World Cosplay Summit. The duo "Coconut Bubble Sex Cosplay" will represent the United States after winning the American regional rounds at Katsucon in February.
