Japanese video game developer 5pb. began streaming the second promotional movie for its upcoming Robotics;Notes video game on Saturday. 5pb. and Nitroplus are both developing the game, which will be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Thursday.
The "Science Adventure game" is set in an alternate future world after Tokyo's Shibuya district was destroyed in 2009, followed by the destruction of the Radio Kaikan building in Tokyo's Akihabara a year later. The world is immersed in realistic augmented reality technology in 2019, but a high school robotics club in danger of being disbanded after shrinking to just two members. The club's revival and the robot it is building may be crucial in a crisis that the entire world will face.
The game's cast includes Ryōhei Kimura, Yoshino Nanjō, Kaori Nazuka, Sora Tokui, Yoshimasa Hosoya, and Rie Kugimiya. Tatsuya Matsubara is producing the game, and Tomonori Fukuda is handling the character designs. Tsuyoshi Abo is in charge of the music, and Makoto Ishiwata is in charge of the mechanical designs. 5pb. and Nitroplus are working with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) on the game.
The game will ship for both consoles in a regular edition for 7,140 yen (about US$85) and a limited edition for 9,240 yen (about US$115).
Fuji TV announced in March that the video game will inspire a television anime that will air in its Noitamina programming block in October.
