Marmalade Boy Art Auctioned for Charity
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The Manga Charity Project is auctioning two framed pieces of Marmalade Boy art on the Yahoo! Auction website. All proceeds from the auction will go to Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster recovery efforts.
Wataru Yoshizumi, the original manga's creator, recreated the opening image from Chapter 36 of the romance drama and the cover image from Volume 1 of Marmalade Boy's light novel adaptation for the auction. Yoshizumi said she chose those illustrations because the manga's leading couple are enjoying themselves and look happy in the images.
The manga artist Satoru Hiura (Hotaru no Hikari - It's Only Little Light in My Life, Love+Dessin) also contributed a hand-drawn New Year's card and a DVD of the Hotaru no Hikari live-action television drama with a signed poster. Tomomi Nagae is offering two drawings customized for the auction winners: a personal Twitter icon and a requested character image.
The charity auction will end on December 7.
