Tales of Xillia, the thirteenth main title in the Tales role-playing game series, sold about 526,000 copies in its first week of sales. Namco Bandai Games released the PlayStation 3 game on September 8 in Japan.
Based on Enterbrain's June statistics given for game sales in Japan the first half of 2011, these sales put Tales of Xillia among the top five best-selling games for 2011 so far. According to those sales totals, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (968,269 units sold as of June) for the PSP, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional (469,469 units) for the Nintendo DS, and Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy (454,522 units) for the PSP are other top-selling games in 2011.
Media Factory's Monthly Comic Gene magazine and the monthly Viva☆Tales of Magazine will publish two manga adaptations of the game this year.
