'Real-Life' K-ON: Fans Make Map, TV Show Scouts Real Band
posted on by Egan Loo
KBaS Kansai's Burari Seichi Junrei no Tabi site posted a full-size (20-megabyte), printable map of the real-life locale inspirations for the K-ON! anime. Burari Seichi Junrei no Tabi documents the real-world places that inspired different anime and games so people can visit them.
The map covers Kyoto, the home of most of the real-life locales and of Kyoto Animation, the studio behind the two K-ON! anime series and the upcoming film. According to the group, the Gamers! stores in Osaka's Umeda district and Kyoto are displaying and distributing the map so people can make "pilgrimages" to see the "sacred sites."
In a separate development, the Shirouto Meikan television variety program revealed that it is scouting out a "live-action" K-ON for its June 24 episode. In the tongue-in-check episode, the hosts Kankurō Kudō (Ikebukuro West Gate Park, Tekkonkinkreet) and Toru Hosokawa (Coji-Coji), along with guest Show Ayanocozey/DJ OZMA (Naruto Shippūden), visit different light music clubs at high schools in Tokyo to find the "real" K-ON club. The television series posted a video preview of the episode.
Television host Danny Choo already filmed a similar premise last year.
