Live Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. SSS Commentary to Be Streamed

The Ustream and Nico Nico Douga websites will stream Kenji Kamiyama and Production I.G's Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society film — with commentary by director Kenji Kamiyama (Eden of the East, Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit) — live to computers worldwide on June 12 at 12:30 a.m. in Japan (June 11 at 11:30 a.m. EDT). The live event at Tokyo's Shinjuku Wald 9 theater will show the stereoscopic 3D version of the film, while the stream will show the 2D version. Both websites will stream the event for free.
The event is being held to thank the 100,000 fans who have gone to see Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. Solid State Society 3D in theaters since the film opened in Japan on March 26. Producer Tomohiko Ishii is also scheduled to attend the event. The 3D film will be available on Blu-ray Disc in Japan on July 22, and will include 3D Tachikoma shorts.
Kamiyama oversaw Production I.G's stereoscopic 3D conversion of their film, which now includes a newly animated opening sequence. Kamiyama also directed a "Xi AVANT" anime film short will play with the Solid State Society film.
