posted on by Gia Manry
Bandai Namco is planning an June figure series in which the characters from the television anime version of Hideaki Sorachi's manga Gintama are portrayed at half of their regular ages. The figures are available as a trading set, with each character sold separately in a package hiding which character it is.
Preorders for boxes of eight figures started on March 2 with a suggested retail price (SRP) of 4,000 yen (about US$48). The set includes five characters: protagonist Gintoki, alien girl Kagura, android maid Tama, and the military characters Toshiro Hijikata and Sougo Okita. Bandai has released "half-age" figure lines for other series, including the Half Age Macross Heroine line and Half Age Girls Gundam line.
Viz Media releases the original Gintama manga in North America. Crunchyroll simulcasted the anime adaptation, while Sentai Filmworks is releasing the series on DVD in North America.
