KABA-chan, the flamboyant J-pop artist, made a cameo in a subway scene.
Gonbe, Kabigon's pre-evolution, appeared in this movie. It was the first Pokemon from the fourth generation of monsters to be revealed.
This movie has made a "big hit" on opening day. In an instance the first show was sold out at least 30 minutes before scheduled run time.
In the dub, Brock mentions Pro. Ivy for the first, in the past everytime her name was mentioned he's go sulk and the air around him would turn blue.
For some reason, Torkoal's English voice is different than that of the TV series.
This was the first Pokémon movie to air first on TV in America before coming to DVD. It aired on Kids' WB! (the first Pokémon movie to air there) 3 weeks before the DVD was released.
This was the first Pokémon movie not to be accompained by a Pikachu short before the main feature
In Japan, folks who bought tickets in advance recieved an Auroa Ticket, which allowed them to catch Deoxys in Kuchiba City Harbor (Vermillion City Harbor in America).
