Trivia:

Sanji (voiced by Hiroaki Hirata) does not appear in this film, because it was produced before he was introduced in the anime (though he had already appeared in the manga). 

Since the Straw Hats have the Going Merry, but Sanji is not present (apart from during the credits), this film must take place between the Captain Kuro Arc and the Baratie Arc. The Going Merry is flying Luffy's Jolly Roger, which means it must also take place after the Straw Hats visit the Island of Rare Animals.

In the end credits, the town musicians of Bremen (a donkey, a dog, a cat and a chicken) make their first appearance in official One Piece art. The second time would be on Chapter 604's color spread.
