In Episode 2 around 3:10, Sasajima makes remarks contrasting quiz competitions and the 100 poets card game. The game he is referring to is Karuta, a game of snatching cards containing the second verses of poems as the first verse is read aloud by a reader. The game of Karuta is very well represented in the anime series Chihayafuru.
