ADV took some extreme liberties with this title. Concerned that the original storyline would not sell, ADV allowed the voice actors to follow the plot but make up their own dialogue. They are credited as writers.
The line "I may have never been to me, but I have been a ghost" in the play in episode 3 was adapted from the 1977 Charlene song, "I've never been to me."
In episode 6, the video game that Hajime and Keiichirou are playing is known as Dark Cloud, which debuted in Japan in 2000 on the Sony Playstation 2 system.
In the English dialogue in episode 10, Satsuki says of the tunnel construction project, "Hopefully it isn't like the Big Dig - what a ripoff -that- was." This is a reference to a Boston, MA road/tunnel construction project that has experienced numerous delays, accidents, and cost overruns over the last twenty years.
In Episode 10 Satsuki is but talking to the cat. In all but one scene she's wearing her backpack. In just one scene she isn't wearing it.
